This position is responsible for all plant operations and provides the necessary direction of manufacturing, material control, and plant scheduling to ensure the production of products and services to our customers in a timely and cost-effective manner, consistent with existing organizational policies and procedures. Provides direction to supervisors of bargaining unit manufacturing personnel.
DUTIES:
- Direct plant manufacturing activities to attain objectives
- Establish production priorities based on production schedules and customer needs
- Review workforce utilization and recommend adjustments in labor force and staffing needs
- Direct production supervisors in the management of their assigned areas to attain objectives and satisfactory performance
- Participate in the development of supervisory personnel, conduct performance evaluations and recognize training needs and weaknesses requiring improvements
- Deal effectively with disciplinary procedures and coordinate efforts with the HR department. Enforce that employees interact and perform their tasks in accordance with the provisions of the labor/union contract
- Monitor manufacturing activities, performance, and results and initiate action to correct deviations and variables as to schedules, high costs, material shortages, or other deterrent factors
- Work to build and sustain a culture of safety and accountability via world-class safety policies and training programs. Assure that safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations are met or exceeded and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, and other agencies
- Meet annual operating plan objectives for shipment dollars, productivity, scrap, and quality

REQUIREMENTS:
- Prefer ten (10) years related to manufacturing leadership experience
- Effective communication at all levels of the organization
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to direct, manage, and motivate supervisors, and production workforce
- Prior Union and labor relations experience
