Environmental Wastewater Treatment Technician-2nd Shift

Temporary-to-hire opportunity for an Environmental Wastewater Treatment Technician in the Dayton, OH area.
 
This is a 2nd shift position working 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform chemistry sampling and analysis for Federal, State, Local, Internal Permit Regulations to ensure we maintain compliance these regulatory standards/limits.
  • Perform the inspections, maintenance of pump stations and all of their components and implement work orders for repairs ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all wastewater treatment equipment and machinery to ensure no downtime.
  • Support the necessary weekend activities and checks on the wastewater treatment system on a rotating basis.
  • Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
  • Maintain open communications with the Department Manager regarding the treatment process and pump stations operation and malfunctions, as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems.
  • Periodic checks to ensure that the system is performing properly.
  • Basic and routine maintenance on pumps, air scrubbers and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Chemical make-up of feed modules
  • Inspections
  • Jar Testing
  • Batch treatment of concentrated waste
  • Occasional hand addition of certain treatment chemicals
  • Empty Sludge filter press
  • Basic plumbing
  • Fork truck operation
 
 
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associates Degree Preferred. 
  • Previous technician work experience in chemical environment, quality, engineering, plumbing, maintenance, waste treatment or mechanical experience a plus.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented, self-motivated, works well independently and good problem solving skills.
 
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. Hearing must permit understanding of verbal instructions and recognition of alarms and buzzers. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, climb stairs, occasionally climb ladders. May be required to participate in confined space entry.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
 
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly encounters toxic or corrosive chemicals, dust and odors, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, operation of a powered industrial truck, and other safety-sensitive duties. The employee occasionally encounters high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, summertime heat and wintertime cold intermittently. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 
Starting pay range (DOE):  $13-14/hour plus $1.25 shift premium
