Immediate Opening for a Temp-to-Hire Logistics Supervisor in the Huber Heights/Springfield area!


The Logistics Supervisor will oversee a staff of shipping clerks and be responsible for the higher level of logistics activities, such as everything related to customs documentation/international shipments, the evaluation & selection of carriers/methods of transport, negotiation of freight rates, ensuring compliance, etc.  The Logistics Supervisor will also, occasionally have to fill in when a shipping team member is absent, which requires hands-on  packaging of pumps & spare parts, processing picking tickets, invoicing, and other daily tasks generally performed by others.  This position may eventually assume responsibility for receiving and material handling functions, depending on candidate's capabilities.  For now, though, the focus will be on the shipping functions. 

Responsibilities include:
  • Help develop and organize traffic procedures.
  • Help evaluate and select carriers & methods of transport based on cost and on-time goals.
  • Manage all customer shipping issues, including claims for loss or damage.
  • Negotiate freight rates with outside carrier base.
  • Manage all customs documentation requirements.
  • Become proficient at the ever changing import / export laws and regulations.
  • Process customs duty drawback paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with current transportation & customs regulations.
  • Daily processing of picking tickets, packing lists and invoices.
  • Review all UPS shipments.
  • Assist in accomplishing the broad array of tasks needed to accomplish the daily materials management functions.
  • Develop and document all department procedures and work instructions.
  • Seek out and develop new, consistant and effective packaging processes using cost effective materials.
  • Work hands-on when needed.

We require:
  • Would prefer a Bachelor's year degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, with your CLTD required within 3 years.
  • Transportation/logisitics experience, preferably  in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with import/export procedures, international freight requirements.
  • Understanding of international freight terminology.
  • That you are a team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ablility to work independently in a fast paced office setting and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Internet, databases and  SAP software experience highly desireable.
  • Someone who is committed to resolving customer problems & answering customer questions in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrates initiative and drive to begin & follow through on tasks in a timely manner.
  • Works well under pressure and daily deadlines.
  • Highly motivated & willing to work flexible hours to accommodate business needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and share knowledge with others.
  • Can handle a minimum 75lbs.
  • Be able to become Forklift certified.
  • The ability to travel domestic and internationally travel required.
Pay is determined based on exeperience!
