Responsibilities:
Perform basic repairs and installations of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems with assistance from the Maintenance Specialist.
Assist in repairs of mechanical or electrical problems.
Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective parts using hand and power tools.
Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand and power tools and reassemble equipment.
Support individual departments by performing essential Preventive Maintenance (PM) on various equipment.
Inspect mobile equipment and perform required PMs to ensure functionality.
Provide facilities keeping services such as light bulb replacement, plumbing repair, and general facilities cleaning as needed.
Advise the Maintenance Specialist on items found during PMs or other tasks that require more attention or repairs.
Provide emergency attention and repairs of equipment to maintain production.
Read and interpret facility blueprints with assistance.
Hand tools, supplies, and materials to other workers; prepare the work area, clean the work area or equipment.
Oversee work completed by outside contractors.
Additional duties as assigned.
Source parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers or obtain them from storerooms.
Perform basic troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with assistance.
Assist with grounds keeping as needed.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED preferred.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Prior experience in industrial plant maintenance preferred.
Strong documentation skills required.
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatic, carpentry skills, and plumbing/pipe fitting.
Basic knowledge of welding and cutting principles is a plus.
Basic HVAC knowledge is a plus.
Basic ability to read mechanical and/or electrical drawings.
Basic ability to read blueprints.
Personal Qualities/Behaviors:
This position will have exposure to manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection is required.
Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
Exposure to heights over 10 feet off the ground.
Exposure to confined spaces.
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions, including all four seasons.
